Welcome

I am on my way out of town, too. Albuquerque for a glider/soaring contest and, later in July, a family celebration in Toledo with a wedding to attend. We will have a summer dance in July, but August will be many smaller events as described here in the Newsletter. No Newsletter will be published in August so any changes in August will be posted on the website calendar and forwarded in the “SFA News” that you receive by email. We will have a full calendar and will be back on schedule after August. Check out the July Dance. The Event Coordinator is Susan Meador. Her email and telephone are listed. Subsequent to completing the planning for the dance, Susan has accepted a position on the SFA Board of Directors. Please congratulate her the next time you see her. Continuing, Susan brings exceptional credentials to the Board with her experience with other singles groups, various dance groups, and business activities. She works full time, which is another plus for SFA. Her professional background as a manager, a business executive, and a business owner adds significantly to the organization’s resources. As mentioned in other places, we will continue to look for volunteers to help host Social Hours and other events. This is a sure way to find out who the person who just walked in is, as well as get to know other members just a little bit better. Our charitable mission should not overshadow the social aspects of the organization. Making friends and creating a social network is what SFA membership is all about. Special accolades this month to Liz Rice for all of the little things she has done, whether hosting small house parties or being one of the first to volunteer to check people in at the Social Hours. Also, Carol Mayer will be out of town for most of the summer, but we must thank her for making sure everyone gets the SFA Appreciation Awards that many of you have received either with your membership or through your recruiting efforts. Remember that when a new person joins and includes your name on the membership application, you get a cash voucher which can be used at almost any SFA event.
